Captain Quack Sparrow
and his Epic Duck Race

There is one event in Maldon that is famous the world over – we are not talking about he Maldon Mud Race! 
For the past 20 years Maldon Town Regatta has held a duck race starting with 50 ducks, they now have over 500 plastic ducks that are set free from captivity off the Hythe Quay.
These plucky little yellow waterfowl, excited to be out after a year in the dark, race down river for the glory of being the first duck to cross the line.

Captain Quack Sparrow assisted by his Flock of Little Duckers follow the ducks on their way down stream to pick the up the first duck, and ceremonially turn  t upside down to read the number on its bottom, before they chase the rest of the fleet to capture them and put them back in captivity for another year.
